Except for Enloe dam, the Similkameen is a 122 mile free-flowing river with its headwaters on the east flank of British Columbia’s Manning Provincial Park.

Citing differences between the co-applicants of the Lake Elsinore Advanced Pumped Storage (LEAPS) Project, which would be located on Lake Elsinore and San Juan Creek in Riverside County, CA, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has dismissed the application for the project submitted in 2004.

FERC issued a license to Duke Energy, Indiana on September 07, 2010 for continued generation at the 64.8 MW Markland Hydroelectric project (P-2211).

On July 15, 2010 FERC approved a settlement reached in January 2009 by the City of Tacoma, Skokomish Tribe, and state and federal agencies and issued a 50-year license for the Cushman hydroelectric project.

FERC has issued a 40-year license to the Granite County to operate a 2MW project on the Georgetown Lake dam.

On March 31, FERC issued a 30-year license to Alabama Power Company to operate its Warrior project (P-2165) on the Black Warrior River in Alabama.

HRC Coalition members in Washington State filed comments on the Enloe Hydroelectric Project on the Similkameen River.  Due to the inadequate analysis of the record, Coalition members found this project to be not yet ready for Environmental Analysis.

The Snohomish County PUD No. 1 in Washington has further advanced in its intent to build and operate a tidal energy project in the Admirarty Inlet. Earlier this week, the PUD filed its draft license application with FERC.

Yesterday, FERC issued a new 30-year license to American Electric Power (AEP), a subsidiary of Appalachian Power Company, for continued operation of the 636 MW Smith Mountain Project.
