The project is located on the Chattahoochee River in Cobb and Fulton Counties, GA, about 36 miles downstream of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Buford dam and 12.5 miles upstream of the city of Atlanta. Most of the flow entering the project comes from releases from the Corps' upstream Buford dam and powerplant.
