The existing 81 MW Toledo Bend Project (P-2305) is located on the Texas and Louisiana border. The Toledo Bend Reservoir extends approximately 132 river miles up the Sabine River to just north of Logansport, LA.
The reservoir is 85 “navigational” miles in length. The reservoir is also the largest man-made body of water in the southern United States and the fifth largest in the country. The Toledo Bend Dam is located at river mile 147 in Sabine Parish, Louisiana (i.e., near Hornbeck), and in Newton County, Texas, and creates the Toledo Bend Reservoir, a water storage facility of 185,000 surface acres (storage capacity of 4,477,000 acre-feet) at normal maximum pool elevation of 172 ft mean sea level (msl).
FERC issued a new license for the project on August 29, 2014.
