Environmentalists in New England know that their hydro projects are not as cute and quaint as the region's colonial towns. Northeastern waters grace the slopes of the northern Appalachian Mountains and are attractive to whitewater boaters, anglers, and wildlife alike. HRC members have been consistently successful through a rush of relicensings in the past decade, and are avidly involved in several that are on-going. The Northeast has recently drawn attention for the Edwards dam removal and increasing water quality standards, but that is only the tip of the iceberg.
