DOI and DOE Enter MOU to Foster Collaboration on Offshore Marine and Hydrokinetic Energy Projects

The Department of Interior and the Department of Energy have agreed to strengthen the working relationship between the two agencies on the future development of commercial renewable offshore energy projects, including the marine and hydrokinetic energy projects, on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).

Interior Requests To Reconsider Decision to License Hydrokinetic Project on Mississippi

Through a letter sent last week, the Department of Interior (DOI) has requested FERC for a rehearing of the decision to issue an amended license that allows for operation of hydrokinetic project on the Mississippi river in Hastings, Minnesota.

 


Tidal barrage projects to require conventional license

In a letter issued to Tidewater Associates on November 3, FERC has determined that tidal barrage projects do not qualify for a hydrokinetic pilot license but will have to obtain license as conventional hydropower.
