The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission today denied a proposal by a developer to build seven hydropower projects along a proposed 501 mile long pipeline to carry water from south Wyoming to Pueblo, Colorado.

Coalition members Foothill Conservancy, Friends of the River and California Sportfishing Alliance were successful in keeping sections of the Mokelumne River free flowing after a California utility dropped its plan to raise a dam on the river.

The City of Frostburg in northwestern Maryland, has obtained an exemption from license to develop hydropower at the city’s municipal raw water line, discharging water from the hydro plant to the raw water reservoir. The City can now start constructing the 75 kilowatt project.
