Finavera Renewables, the first licensee for a wave energy project, has surrendered its license before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Through a press release issued last week, FERC has claimed jurisdiction over hydro projects on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS), a region within three miles off the ocean shore.

In a comment filed yesterday, HRC requested MMS to describe the procedures, standards and requirements that would be applied for decisions on hydrokinetic projects.

Oregon Wave Energy Partners, LLC has filed a preliminary permit application for a proposed wave energy project that would be located 3-6 miles offshore in Lincoln County, Oregon. Comments and motions to intervene are due to FERC by February 18, 2007.

Oregon Wave Energy Partners, LLC has filed a preliminary permit application for a proposed wave energy project that would be located 2.5 miles offshore in Coos County, Oregon. Comments and motions to intervene are due to FERC by February 18, 2007. 

AquaEnergy Group Ltd. Filed a preliminary permit application for the proposed "Coos County Offshore Wave Energy Project," which would be located about 2-4 miles offshore southwest of Bandon, Oregon. FERC has issued formal notice, with a deadline for comments, protests, and interventions set for January 1, 2007.
