HRC and NPS Seek Comments on Draft Report

The Hydropower Reform Coalition has partnered with the National Park Service with assistance from the Department of Energy to produce a whitepaper on recreational issues related to the marine and hydrokinetic energy technologies, which is now available for public review.

DOI, DOE and Army Corps Sign a MOU: Federal Agencies To Look at Basin-wide Assessment for Hydropower Development

In what seems like a progress from conventional ways of looking at hydropower, federal agencies that own and operate hydropower projects around the country are collaborating to find ways to increase hydropower generation while at the same time protecting the non-power interests of the basin.

The officials of the Departments of Interior, Energy and Army, through the Army Corps of Engineers, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that, among other things, looks to approach hydropower development from a basin-scale approach.

New Marine and Hydrokinetic Technology Database by DOE

With interest in marine and hydrokinetic energy development in the US rapidly rising, the Department of Energy has developed a database of existing and potential projects.The database includes information on the location, application, nameplate capacity, stage and status of various companies’ technologies and projects.Marine and hydrokinetic technologies are still in developmental phase in the US.
