Cushaw project licensed for 30 years

Earlier today, FERC issued a 30-year license to Dominion Virginia Power for continued operation of Cushaw hydroelectric project on the James River in Virginia. The project is located on the James River which provides habitat for James spinymussel, which is one of 37 threatened or endangered mussel species in Virginia and is found only in the upper James River and Dan River basins.

Morgan Falls licensed for 30 years

Last week FERC issued a new license for operation of the 16.8 MW project in Cobb and Fulton counties in Georgia. This project occupies 14.4 acres of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.The Coalition and its members- American Rivers and Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper had sent in comments on the Environmental Assessment prepared by FERC for the project.

Hydro project in California to get production tax credits

FERC has certified the Pit 3, 4 & 5 hydroelectric projects on the Pit River in California to be eligible for production tax credits (PTC) under the Energy Policy Act of 2005.In July 2007, PG&E had completed a turbine upgrade by installing a new runner, new wicket gates, and upgrading other electrical and mechanical components.
