Increased Generation at Mystic Lake Earns Tax Credits

Through an order issued on June 2, 2010, FERC has certified the increased hydropower generation from Mystic Lake hydropower project (P-2301) in Montana to be eligble for tax credits under Section 1301 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.

Efficiency Improvement Qualifies Piney Hydro Project for Tax Credits

FERC issued a certification order yesterday confirming increased generation in the Piney hydroelectric project through efficiency improvement. The project is located on the Clarion River in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. 

In its application filed in October 2009, Brookfield stated that it had replaced one of its units (Unit 3 runner) with a more efficient runner which resulted in an increase in energy generation by 368,000 kWh. This amounts to an increase of 0.5% in generation.

New York Project Will Receive Production Tax Credits

The additional generation at Raquette River project in New York will now be eligible to receive tax credits under EPAct 2005.Yesterday FERC issued a letter certifying that the four developments in the project owned by Erie Boulevard had generated 24912 kWh more than the historic annual generation of 70,271 kWh.A license amendment issued in late 2006 had allowed the project to increase the capacity by 6 MW. The amendment had also changed the project from a peaking mode to run-of-river mode.

St. Lawrence Hydro Will Receive Production Tax Credits

St Lawrence Hydroelectric project located on the Merrimack River in Lawrence, MA will now receive tax credits for electricity generation because of its recent efficiency upgrades.In its application filed on Sep 29, Essex Company, the operator of the project stated that the existing wooden flashboards on the crest of the project's dam would be replaced with a modem inflatable crest gate system thereby increasing efficiency of the system and generating more electricity.
